Liu Qingyun’s "The Commandment of Poison" as "Junkie" interprets the legendary gang boss
Liu Qingyun can be regarded as a clean stream in the entertainment industry. In the play, he makes people unable to take their eyes off him. Whether it is "New Love" with deep love, or "Murderous Light in the Eyes" with murderous intent, or "Detective" who cannot stop the thriller, Liu Qingyun presents the acting skills of the best actor. Outside the play, Liu Qingyun is so low-key that he can become the subject of street interviews. The popularity of "Citizen Mr. Liu" even makes people feel that Liu Qingyun is another acting explosion. In 2006, Liu Qingyun won the first Hong Kong Film Award "Best Actor" trophy with "I Want to Be Famous". Ten years later, Liu Qingyun and "I Want to Be Famous" director Liu Guochang joined hands again to shoot the movie "Poison". This time, Liu Qingyun challenges Hong Kong’s most legendary gang boss – Chen Shenzhi, the head of the "Tsz Wan Shan Thirteen Taibao". In the film, Liu Qingyun challenges addicts like never before, and the performance is really remarkable. It seems that Liu Qingyun, who meets Liu Guochang again, is expected to challenge the "Best Actor" title again.
Liu Qingyun’s "Poison. Commandment" comes true, interpreting "legendary gang boss" Chen Shenzhi
In the past 30 years, Liu Qingyun has successfully created more than 100 characters with very different personalities. He, who claims that he will not do anything other than acting, has been challenging characters that are very different from his own personality. "Mao Junhua" in "Poison. Commandment" can be regarded as the role that Liu Qingyun has always wanted to play – as early as 2006, Liu Qingyun said that he wanted to play a drug addict, drug rehab, life has ups and downs, and a legendary character. And the character he is talking about is the first of the "Thirteen Taibao of Ciyun Mountain", and it is also Chen Shenzhi, the producer and character prototype of "Poison. Commandment".
"After meeting Chen Shenzhi, I’ve always wanted to play a role like this," Liu Qingyun said. "I think a person can come back from the edge of hell and do a lot of good for society. If there are any problems in black and white, ask him to solve them. He must be exceptional."
Although it is not the first time to play a gangster, Liu Qingyun admits that this time there are still many different experiences and feelings: "Because this story is based on the experience of a real person, I know Chen Shenzhi and know a lot about him. Although the movie tries to restore his legend of the year, I believe that this movie can tell only one percent of his experience."
It is worth mentioning that the movie "Poison. Commandment" was personally supervised by Chen Shenzhi, who witnessed the incident, and showed a legendary past that has changed. Previously, Chen Shenzhi, who is known as the "bomb disposal expert in the rivers and lakes", has served as a consultant for Mai Dangxiong’s "Lame Haohao", Liu Guochang’s "The Biography of Lei Luo", Wang Jing’s "Crouching Tiger" and other films. By considering or designing the spoken dialogue, living habits and even inner world of the gangsters in the play, it has greatly restored the scene atmosphere when the film story took place. In the movie "Poison. Commandment", this "bomb disposal expert" who has served as a consultant for many films several times chose to bring his legendary past to the screen, and restore a past of the Kowloon City he experienced with almost real momentum.
Joining hands with Liu Guochang again, Liu Qingyun can rest assured to subvert the image and play the decadent "addict"
In the eyes of many people, "I Want to Be Famous" is not the peak of Liu Qingyun’s acting skills. Before that, whether it was "New Love", "The Birth of a Word", "Eyes Revealed", "Dark War" and "Unforgettable", Liu Qingyun’s performance was enough to match a Hong Kong Film Awards trophy. But in the end, it was Liu Guochang’s semi-documentary "I Want to Be Famous" that made Liu Qingyun worthy of being the "Best Actor". In that film, Liu Qingyun played Pan Jiahui, who did not change his original intention of acting, but still remained determined despite several twists and turns.
This time in "Poison. Commandment", Liu Qingyun and director Liu Guochang also hit it off. Liu Qingyun said he was particularly grateful to the director Liu Guochang for giving him the opportunity to interpret the role he had always wanted to play. Liu Guochang, on the other hand, said that he initially communicated with Liu Qingyun and the other party was very interested, which made him happy: "After having Liu Qingyun, many things are simple."
For the first "addict" he played since his debut, Liu Qingyun believes that the biggest difference between this character and the previous characters is that the film wants to express that a person who has made a lot of mistakes can also be a good person again. "The biggest direction of this movie is to tell everyone that no matter what wrong you have done, as long as you sincerely change it, you will have the opportunity to do a lot of good things for society."
It is reported that the legendary gangster movie "Poison. Commandment" produced by Yindu Organization Co., Ltd., starring Liu Qingyun, Lin Jiadong, Jiang Yiyan, Koo Tianle, Zhang Jin, Wu Mengda, Tan Yaowen and other co-stars, will be released nationwide in the first half of this year.
