Kant’s view on beauty as a symbol of morality
Time:June 4 (Friday) at 15:30
Location:Tencent conference (ID: 79555703)
Speaker:Zhou Huang Zhengmi (Associate Professor, School of Philosophy, Beijing Normal University)
If there is a certain tension between the two important tasks of Critique of Judgment-demonstrating aesthetic self-discipline and the systematic construction of connecting theoretical philosophy and practical philosophy, then the proposition of "beauty as a symbol of virtue" is just above the node of this tension. On the one hand, the symbolism of beauty must be based on aesthetic self-discipline; On the other hand, through symbolism, beauty becomes one of the important ways to transition from nature to freedom. This lecture will first clarify the basic meaning of the word "symbol" in Kant’s philosophy (perceptual display of ideas) and its operation mode (analogy to reflection rules); Secondly, the philosophical connotation of "beauty is a symbol of virtue" is determined-aesthetic reflection is similar to the inner structure of the subject in moral intention not only in terms of its purity (negative freedom) without emotional concern, but also in terms of the initiative (positive freedom) of self-legislation of judgment; Finally, the role of this proposition in Kant’s philosophical system is explained: through the formal symbolic relationship, beauty and morality not only promote each other in the sense of empirical anthropology, but also on the transcendental level, beauty can look forward to what is rational and become a transition from nature to freedom.
Going home and leaving home-Ulysses’ modern fable
Time:June 5 (Saturday) 18:30-20:30
Location:Tencent Conference (ID: 5978069090), Mile Mile Renaissance and Modern Philosophy
Speaker:Wu Gongqing (Associate Professor, School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China)
Dante rewrote the life of Ulysses in the 26th song of Hell, and portrayed and predicted the image of a modern man. Ulysses’ enthusiasm made him not satisfied with the sense of stability at home, but he was eager to leave home, to understand, explore and experience the unknown world, even at the expense of sin and danger. On the one hand, Dante appreciated Ulysses’ impulse to leave home, and on the other hand, he was worried about the radical modernity revealed in him, so he arranged a tragic fate for him. Dante’s rewriting not only shows the expectations and fears of medieval people for modern consciousness, but also reflects the general anxiety of western thought on family issues.

Location:Tencent Conference (ID: 5978069090), Mile Mile Renaissance and Modern Philosophy
Speaker:Wu Gongqing (Associate Professor, China Renmin University)
As a representative philosopher in the Renaissance, Pico Mirandola’s thought not only has the color of classical philosophy, but also embodies the distinctive characteristics of medieval philosophy. On the theme of love: on the one hand, Pico followed the Platonism tradition and strongly emphasized the stimulation of love desire to people; On the other hand, he highly affirmed God’s grace and advocated the call and promotion of holy love to human beings. The two dimensions of love desire and holy love have reached a perfect balance in Pico Mirandola’s works, and together they paint a picture of the times of Christian humanism.

Beijing | Official History as System, Literature and History —— Study Meeting on the Operation and Evolution of the Official History System in the Middle Ages
Time:June 5th (Saturday) at 9:00.
Location:Room 208, Peking University Jingyuan Second Hospital, No.5 Summer Palace Road, Haidian District
Speaker:Nie Yimeng (Lecturer, School of History, Capital Normal University)
Since the Han and Wei dynasties, historiography has been independent, and the prosperity of the types and quantities of historical books between Han and Tang dynasties and the development of private historiography have attracted wide attention. However, even privately written history books must contain official factors if they record dynasties. The Operation and Evolution of the Official History Revision System in the Middle Ages avoids the perspective of opposition between official revision and private writing, and notes that the official routine history revision system has transformed the general environment of the compilation of the history of the Wang Dynasty and changed the genre of biographical history. The concept of "official history revision system" put forward in the book refers to a set of information collection, collation and compilation mechanisms and related official settings guaranteed by the system. During the Han, Wei, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the system of official revision of history in central institutions gradually institutionalized and made the relationship between government affairs operation, documents and historical compilation routine. This book examines this from two angles: first, it discusses how genre templates and historical sources adapt to each other in the cross section of biographies of biographies of biographies of biographies of four foreign countries, biographies of filial piety, biographies of general bureaucrats and related government operations; The second is to investigate the development of the longitudinal historical data processing and compilation process, discuss the revision of history between the Eastern Jin Dynasty and Liu Song Dynasty, the Sixteen States and the Northern Wei Dynasty, and observe the compilation process of historical books with the participation of chronological and biographical records. In terms of research methods, this book combines history with philology, which not only pays attention to the records of historical events and systems of historical revision in past dynasties, but also attaches importance to the analysis of the structure, style, historical source and adaptation process of historical documents, confirming each other and creating a new face. This activity will focus on the study and discussion of the book "Operation and Evolution of the Official History System in the Middle Ages".

The hit drama Xiao Shede caused a lot of heated discussion. Some people said it was a "contraceptive drama", while others said it was "real on earth". Is there no other way to make children grow up healthily and happily? Is there only one way for every Buddhist parent to "not talk about learning from his mother’s kindness and filial piety, but help him with his homework?" How do those parents who are arrogant educate their children? Do children who learn to bully must be schoolmasters? On June 5th, I heard Yu Tianhong, Cui Jing, Huang Senlei and other Peking University alumni authors, as well as Yang Molin, a second-generation author of Peking University, share how to ignite children’s internal drive in SKP, Beijing.
